It is with great sadness that the family of Alfreda M. Legere of Lincoln, announce her peaceful passing at Orchard View nursing home, Gagetown, on January 20, 2011 with family by her side. She was 96 years of age.

Born in Rogersville, NB, she was wife of the late Ovile Legere (1994) and daughter of the late Alfred and Flavie (Guimond) Leger.

She is survived by five sons, Rene (Leona) of Shediac, Donald (Suzanne) of Ajax, Ontario, Ivan (Marlene), Alfred (Ellen), both of Fredericton, and Daniel (Karen) of Harvey. Five daughters, Dianne Belanger (late Paul) of Montreal, Doreen Comeau (Gerald), Jeannette Scholten (late John), Louise Fletcher (Carson), Donna Joslin (Lloyd) all of Fredericton, 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, as well as three sisters in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Apart from her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son Arthur (2005) and an infant daughter Dorine. Being the last surviving member of her immediate family she was also predeceased by six brothers, Leo, Prosper, Edward, Alderic, Lionel and Gerald, and two sisters, Corinne and Aurele.

A homemaker, she enjoyed her family very much. She loved to cook, watch sports on TV and play bingo with her children.

Resting at Bishop's funeral home, 540 Woodstock Road, with visitation on Sunday, January 23rd from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi church in Lincoln on Monday, January 24th at 12 noon with Father Monte Peters officiating. Pallbearers will be, Alan Legere, Kirk Legere, Shane Fletcher, Jason Scholten, Matthew Legere and Jeremy Joslin. Internment will be held at St. Francis of Assisi in the spring.

The family would like to express their gratitude to staff at Orchard View for all the care and compassion they’ve shown to our mother during her stay there.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
