It is with great sadness that the family of Leonard
"Jimmy" Forrest, loving husband of Irene Martin-Forrest,
wish to announce his passing which occurred on July 20, 2026, after a
period of declining health, at Fredericton Hospice. Born in
Fredericton he was the son of the late James Leonard and Mabel
Gwendolyne (Elliott) Forrest.
Jimmy lived and worked in Ontario for several years retiring
back to Fredericton in 2008. He worked in waste management
during his career. He was a member of the Lions Club
(Toronto) and enjoyed playing darts at the RCL.
Besides his wife Irene, he is survived by his children, David
(Bernice), Stephen (Mary), Cindy Forrest (Tim), his stepchildren,
Richard Martin (Ann), Terry Martin (Lori), Sonia Fougere (Reg), his
grandchildren, Shawn, Melissa, Sarah, Matthew, and Emily, his great-
grandchildren, Aislyn, Atlas, Cohen, Mason, Adrian, Sage, Aleigha,
Madison and Carly, his sister Bonita Morrison (Wayne), along with
several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mabel, his first
wife Olive, and sisters, Betty Campbell and June
Goodine.
Arrangements are under the care of Bishop’s Funeral
Home and Crematorium, 540 Woodstock Road (506) 458-1885.
Following cremation, the family will hold the committal service at
12:00 noon, on July 23, 2026, at the Caroll’s Cross
Cemetery, 474 Caroll’s Crossing Road. Remembrances to the
Canadian Cancer Society, the Parkinson’s Foundation or
Fredericton Hospice would be appreciated.
