In Loving Memory of Delton Sullivan
It is with heavy hearts, and a fair amount of disbelief, that we announce the passing of Delton Sullivan.
Delton was many things throughout his life: a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a mechanic, a hard worker, a problem solver, and, by his own proud example, a world-class asshole.
If something was broken, Delton could probably fix it. Whether it was a car, a lawn mower, a washing machine, or some mystery piece of machinery that should stayed where he found it, he somehow always found a way. Usually while muttering words that can't be printed in an obituary. He worked hard his entire life and took pride in being the guy people called when they were out of options.
He was stubborn enough to argue with a road map, smart enough to usually be right, and funny enough to make you laugh even when you were trying to stay mad at him. He always had a comeback ready, whether you wanted one or not. Delton lived life on his own terms, and if you didn't agree with him, well, that sounded like a "you" problem.
Behind the sarcasm, the grumbling, the complaining and the occasional tendency to drive everyone absolutely insane, was a man who loved deeply and fiercely. His family meant a lot to him, even if his preferred love language was giving you a hard time.
He was also an Olympic-level complainer. He complained about everything. He'd grumble the whole time, tell you exactly why whatever happened was probably your fault, complain about having to fix it, and then fix it anyway.
Delton leaves behind his loving wife, Kelsie, who somehow managed to put up with him and love him every single way for 42 years. He is also survived by his children, Katherine (David), Charles (Tonya), and Missy (Matt), along with his cherished grandchildren: Destiny, the late Baby G, Kayden, Kcee, Desirae, Jase, Dontay, Liam, Cali, Miaya, Dallon, and Cohen.
He is also survived by his father, Denton (Bonnie), his brother, Clinton (Leah), step siblings Michelle and Joe and many other family members , friends and his Tim's crew whose lives are better for having known him.
While Delton may have left this world, we have no doubt he's already somewhere complaining and explaining to the angels why they're holding the wrench wrong, criticizing the quality of the equipment, and telling everyone how he would have built it better himself.
There will be no visitation or funeral service.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Tim Hortons on June 20th. Details regarding the time and location will be announced on Facebook.
The family gratefully appreciates any support during this time. Donations in Delton's memory may be made directly to Kelsie. Contributions toward funeral expenses may also be made directly through Bishop's Funeral Home.
In true Delton fashion, we'd like to think he would leave us with one final message:
" Stay golden like fresh urine. "
He will be deeply missed, endlessly remembered, and talked about for generations, usually accompanied by laughter, eye rolls, and stories that begin with, "You won't believe what Delton did..."
