It is with heavy
hearts that we announce the passing of Dawn Michelle Brooks aka Dawn
Mega of St. Mary’s First Nation on March
3rd, 2026 at the Saint John Regional Hospital
with family by her side, at the young age of 36. Born in Fredericton,
NB on June 1st, 1989; she was the eldest daughter of Michael Brooks.
Dawn was reunited with her late mother in the spirit world, Ann-Marie
Brooks and older brother Michael after complications with Pneumonia
and years long battle with
addiction.
Dawn will be
forever missed and loved by her 3 children; Jakobi, Brooklyn and
Karma; Her dad, Michael Brooks; Sisters, Miranda Brooks; Chyenne
Brooks (Mike); loving grandmother Vivian Paul; Uncle, Shawn Paul;
Aunts, Bernadette Henry; Edna Paul; Laura Underhill (Peter), a special
niece Layla, numerous cousins and other family members and friends;
close friends she considered family.
Anyone who truly knew Dawn, knew how
big of a heart she had and what she’d do for the people she
cared about. She was a fierce woman, she fought many battles
throughout her life and she fought till the very end and
it’s a true testament of how strong she really was. Dawn
left a big mark on this earth, she was knowledgeable and smart in her
own ways; she was often known for giving life advice, being a
listening ear or being your partner in crime. She was very creative,
and loved to draw and write. She loved her music loud; poutines, big
macs and Pepsi and the color purple. She was stubborn at times, but
she always found her way back
home.
Dawn will always be
remembered as being the life of the party, she touched the lives of
everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness, strength
and warm presence and generous spirit will be remembered forever. She
leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, love and resilience that lives on
in all of us. She taught and shared many life lessons with everyone
and had the power of healing others who were around her, and was often
very uplifting and fun whenever you needed a friend or a shoulder to
cry on.
Dawn was
predeceased by her loving mother Ann-Marie Brooks; brother Michael;
and her Aunt Lynn Paul and several other people in Dawn’s
life that held a huge piece of her heart that have gone before
her.
The family would
like to extend a sincere thank you to the Saint John Regional Hospital
ICU department for the care, respect and kindness shown towards Dawn
and our family, the efforts to save Dawn will never be
forgotten.

lit today at 5PM, then Dawn will be resting at the Maqiyahtimok
Centre, 247 Maliseet Drive for the family from 6-7pm and for the
community and public from 7-9pm. Will continue on until her
celebration of life at the Maqiyahtimok Centre on Saturday, March
7th at 2pm with Father Curtis Sappier
officiating. A feast will
follow.
Dawn is now free from the pain she
carried for so long, the demons she faced and her addiction that
haunted her. Her memory will live on in the stories we tell and the
love we carry forward, and through her children forever. Apc-oc
