It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Reed announces her unexpected passing on January 11th, 2026 at the DECH Palliative Care Unit. She was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick to Carl and Bina McMinniman on December 8th, 1959.

Most people knew her by Margie, and she was deeply loved by her family and close friends. She spent 38 years working at STU, made great friends, and has many fond memories of her time there. She loved spending her time on Grand Lake with her lake crew as well as travelling to tropical climates with her husband Mike. She spent many hours volunteering her time with minor hockey in the Fredericton area, including managing her sons’ teams throughout the years and sitting on the board of directors for the Brendan Oreto Hockey Foundation. She spent many summers in the Geary woods at Speedway 660 creating lasting friendships and memories. She had a strong passion for Toronto sports, always following the Blue Jays or her beloved Maple Leafs. Margie was well known throughout the community and was a selfless person, always there to offer support or advice when asked. No one was a stranger, just someone she hadn’t met yet. She will be greatly missed.

She leaves behind her husband Mike, her three children Nicholas (Kat), Kyle (Sarah), and Meghan (Greg). Ten grandchildren, Maggie, Ivy, Eddie, Aly, Eva, Mya, Rowan, Aiden, Ashton and Colton.

Two brothers Steve (Jeannie), and John (Lynn), along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved.

There will be no service or visitation as per her wishes, a celebration of life will be held in early Spring. If you wish to do so, donations can be made to the SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society.
