Gladys B Wilson (nee Patterson) passed
away of natural causes on Jan 30, 2025, in Fredericton at the age of
98. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt,
great-aunt, grandmother and
great-grandmother.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents
Arthur and Ida, her loving husband Reginald, her only daughter Mona
Guthrie and her siblings, Owen (in infancy), Leta, Eric, Laurie,
Marie, and Ralph. She is survived by her grandchildren Robert
(Sheila), Peter (Janet), and James (Tina), and great-grandchildren
Caleb, Olivia, Annika, Jacqueline, and Dylan, as well as several
nieces and nephews and great-nieces and
nephews.
While she didn’t have an easy
life it was one still filled with joy. Born in Upper Falmouth Gladys
grew up on the farm eventually moving to Fredericton where she was
married. She always felt at home in the Maritimes. Gladys worked at
the Hart shoe factory until its closure and was an active member of
the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 4 in
Fredericton. She kept herself young by dedicating herself to
volunteering in many places and spending time with her friends, nieces
and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren.
Gladys will be deeply missed and
remembered for her inspiring strength and kindness. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be
appreciated.
A graveside committal service
will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery on Wednesday, May
28th at 2PM. The online sharing of memories &
