It is with heavy hearts that we
announce the passing of Rainsford Arthur "Artie" Barton on
December 18, 2024. Born in Stanley on September 7, 1936 he was the
only child of Charles and Gertrude (Foreman)
Barton.
Art is survived by his special friend
Greta Wiggins of Saint John; daughters Heather (Andrew) Waugh of
Noonan, NB and Janice (Lenny) Warner of Mulgrave, NS; grandchildren
Rachel (Jonah) Waugh of Halifax , NS and Alex Waugh of Noonan, NB;
Ex-Wife Marilyn (Blakney) Barton of York Care Centre; many in-laws,
nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was Anglican by
faith.
His greatest source of pride and
delight was in the accomplishments of his grandchildren, Rachel and
Alex. In which, he was ever so present in their daily life activities.
He always supported and never missed Rachel and Alex‘s
activities, even if it meant to travel out of a province to
attend.
He was quick to take his family
wherever they wanted to go by car.
Art was Instrumental in raising Rachel
and Alex being supportive and hands-on. He was the best friend
daughter could have.
Art always was lending a helping hand
to those in need. He was known as much for his kind and generous
spirit as he was for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. This served
him well throughout his life.
Dad always found the good people and
always knew exactly what to say when problems arose. Art always had a
good story.
He is remembered for his tireless
support in the Fredericton area with community organizations,
including the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer’s
Society, the Police Association and watch, Ground Search and Rescue,
Neighbourhood Link, many areas with the RCMP and communications, the
Mustang Club, United Commercial Travellers, Amateur Radio Club and his
passion Ham Radio. He was proud of his call letters VE1BED and later
in 2000 VE1RT "Artie".
Dad‘s work life began early
in life in 1952 at Remington Rand, Craig electric, a Carpenter at
Harold Villers, bill collector for a finance company, Carleton cards,
Hallmark cards, and Equifax Canada as an auditor after
retirement.
A very special thanks to York Care
Centre for the exceptional care given to Art from 2019 to 2024. He
really loved you all!
In memory of Art, let us honour his
straightforward approach to life, embracing the honesty that defined
him. May his legacy inspire us to live authentically, appreciating the
beauty of truth in every facet of our
lives.
Dad would say, "Be kind , you do
not know what others are going through", " be a good human
and live life because no one gets out alive
!"
Because of Dad‘s great love
of animals, if you feel the need to make a donation in his honour, it
can be made to any animal organization of your
choice.
Arrangements are entrusted to
Bishop’s Funeral Home. Interment will be at Scotch
Lake cemetery at a later date in the spring of 2025.
