The family of Jennet Neill (nee Prime) are saddened to announce her passing on March 19th, 2024, at the age of 95. Jennet was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, on November 16th, 1928. She was the only daughter to parents Bertha and Ralph and a beloved sister to 6 brothers. Jennet moved to Fredericton with her family as a child, where she eventually met and married her late husband David Neill in 1954.

Jennet had a gift in caring for others. Upon graduation at a young age, she taught in a one room schoolhouse in the Harvey area. From there, she decided to attend the Saint John School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. Jennet worked as a private duty nurse as well as at the Victoria Public Hospital but eventually made the decision to become a stay-at-home mom.

Jennet was a private person whose greatest passion was her family.  Her caring and protective nature was always cherished by all, and this continued throughout her life. As great mothers tend to do, she was selfless in her love for family- her peace came from knowing her loved ones were happy and healthy. Jennet was the greatest supporter of her children and grandchildren in all their endeavours, particularly athletic ones. Jennet was also a wonderful seamstress and knitter and was often found making clothes for her children to wear in their younger days.

Jennet’s true happy place was at her "camp" in Bear Island. She had a special ability for gardening- evidenced in the many beautiful flowers and shrubs at the camp that will continue to serve as a reminder of her loving and caring spirit. Most importantly, the camp was a place where her family gathered. Jennet and David gifted their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with a special place to make cherished memories for years to come.

Jennet had a great sense of humour. She was known for her comical remarks and sayings and always succeeded in putting a smile on your face. Even in her later days as a resident at Frederick Hall, her caregivers often shared how she could make them laugh.

Jennet is survived by her children, Terry (Maurice), David, and Holly (Kevin). She was a beloved "Ma" to 7 grandchildren: Jaime (Ian), D’arcy (Brenda), Nicki (Rima), Kelsey (Mark), Robbi (Anthony), Tyler (Marissa), and Katie (Jane). Ma was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren with whom she loved deeply. She is also survived by loving brothers Don and Bill (Charlotte).

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, David Neill, and her brothers Ralph, Frank, Jim, and David.

The family is forever appreciative to Jennet’s caregiving team at Frederick Hall over the years.

All are welcome to join the family for a memorial gathering to celebrate Jennet’s life on March 28th at Bishop’s Funeral Home from 2-4 PM. Remarks from family members will be shared at 3PM.

For those who wish, donations can be made toward the charity of your choice.

Ma, there is a secret garden waiting for you and we will find peace knowing that is where you will be until we meet again. Thank you for everything. We love you.

Toodleloo, Ma.
