"Already in Heaven … Forever in My Heart."

It is with deep sadness that Doreen's family announce their mother's death on February 17th, 2024. at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB, following a massive stroke.  Born on October 7th, 1937 in Zealand, NB, she was the daughter of the late Beatrice (Estey) and Angus Brewer. She lived in Zealand since birth until 2014 before moving into a nursing home at York Manor, Fredericton, NB.

Doreen is survived by her children: Susan (Dwight) Morehouse, Burtt’s Corner, NB; Linda (Stephen) Nevers, New Market, NB; Gloria (Widow of Paul) Partington, Spruce Grove, AB; Billy Morehouse (Samantha), NB, and Jason Morehouse, Sudbury, ON; her siblings, Dean (Bertha) Brewer, Zealand, NB; Christina (widow of Flavis) Brewer, Burtt’s Corner, NB, Gayle Hanson, Fredericton, NB, Gerald (Edie) Morehouse, Lincoln, NB and Arnold (Leslie) Morehouse, Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren, Natasha Arsenault, Tiffany Hoskins, Jonathan Morehouse, Holly Nevers, Ryan Nevers, Gregory R. Like generations before her, Doreen came from a large family. After she became a bride in 1955, she was blessed with a family of seven children and several grandchildren. Doreen doted on her children/grandchildren when they were young.  The family cherished the memories of many day trips, mini-golf, camping, dining out, etc.  The family also enjoyed memorable trips with her to the various tourist destinations such as PEI, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Maine and New Hampshire, and train rides to Ontario.

Doreen was known for her generosity, sense of humor, and she loved to share stories about her large family from past generations, and about her life growing up. She enjoyed many activities, which included sewing, various book puzzles, listening to country music from the 50’s to the 70’s.   Doreen enjoyed cooking, canning, pickling and making jams; she had volunteered to cook for church dinners, and her family had always looked forward to turkey dinners during the holidays and special occasions.

Doreen had a long employment history which includes housekeeping in private homes, working at the Keswick Apple house, as a  custodian at the Keswick Valley School, a nurse aide at York Manor, to name a few.

Besides her parents, Doreen was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Vernon I. Morehouse (2017); Her sons, Gregory V. Morehouse (1977), Bradley A. Morehouse (2014); her father Angus (1940); her mother, Beatrice (1996); her infant sister, Judith (1942 ? ); her step-father Elwood Morehouse (1996). "You may be gone from my sight, but you are never gone from my heart."

There will be no visitations or funeral service.  A private interment/graveside service will take place at a later date.  For those who wish to make a donation in Doreen’s memory, the family suggests either the Alzheimer’s Society of NB or the Heart & Strike Foundation.
