It is with
profound sadness, that we announce the passing of Marlene Watts, 81,
who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on September
6th, 2023. Marlene was born in
O’Leary PEI on March 22nd, 1942 and
was the daughter of the late Alfred and Lillie (Dalton)
Palmer.
Marlene will
forever be remembered by Sheldon, her loving husband of 63 years;
their sons Bill, Terry (Teri), and Kelly (Gail). Also left to remember
are sister Shirley Smith; grandchildren Shane Watts (Kyana Hicks),
Erin Moss (Kirk) and Spencer Watts (Emily); great grandchildren
Charlotte and Sophie; as well as her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law;
several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends; and beloved
four-legged companions Holly and
Molly.
Marlene worked
for the Daily Gleaner for many years. After she retired, she went on
to care and look after children, throughout the years, in her home.
She loved each and every one of them that she had cared for and held a
very special place in her heart for them
all.
She showed so
much love and kindness to anyone who had ever entered her life. She
loved unconditionally without judgement and opened her heart to
everyone. She loved to laugh, loved to smile and her smile could light
up the room. She had love for all animals, loved to travel, took pride
in her garden, loved playing bingo, loved music, loved to dance, and
had a passion for harness racing. She took pride in watching her
grandson Spencer curl. Marlene loved her visits with family, friends,
and her dear sister
Shirley.
Her three sons
have very fond memories, of their childhood years, of her attending
all their hockey and baseball games, loading the lawnmower in the back
of the car on Fridays to take them to mow lawns, countless fishing
trips, and she was their biggest
fan.
Marlene was the
matriarch of her family, she will be missed dearly but will be
remembered for her independent nature, strength, determination,
kindness, and her loving and caring demeanor. Marlenes legacy will
live on in the numerous lives she touched. She was immensely loved by
her family and friends and will be terribly missed, and never
forgotten.
Our sincerest
heartfelt appreciation is extended to the team of Doctors, Nurses, and
staff of 4NE who cared for Marlene during her stay at the DECRH. Your
compassion and care never went
unnoticed.
Visitation will
take place at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road,
Fredericton on Monday September 11th, 2023 from
1-3pm, with a memorial service to follow at 3pm. For those
who cannot attend the service, it will be livestreamed and can be
accessed from Marlene's online obituary the day of the
