The family sadly announces the passing of Beryl Marguerite Henheffer on Thursday August 24, 2023 at the age of 98.
Born in London, England she was one of three daughters of the late Percy Edwin and Daisy Winnifred (Carter) Curtis. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard William Henheffer and her daughter-in-law, Jean Henheffer, her twin sister Pam and sister Olive. Beryl was a war bride, adventurously starting her new life in Canada in 1946.
Beryl had a love for the arts and was skilled at painting, weaving, quilting and sewing. She was a member of the New Brunswick Weaving Association. She gifted hand-crafted blankets and quilts to her children and grandchildren at major life milestones which will be forever treasured.
Beryl was also an avid walker, and she especially liked to walk the trails of Odell Park.  Another happy place for Beryl was the ocean.  She loved to go on long walks along the beach, to listen to the waves, to find shells and beach glass in the sand.  Beryl also loved travelling especially with her family.  Beryl was "up for anything" she had an adventurous streak shown by hiking the Grand Canyon at the age of 78 and swimming with sting rays in the Caribbean.  Beryl also really enjoyed reading and doing crosswords.  As quoted by Mom, "there is never enough time in the day to do all the things I want to do."
Beryl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.  Everyone who knew her was touched by her kindness, grace, thoughtfulness and appreciation of others.  Though seemingly quiet and unassuming, Beryl had a sharp wit and wicked sense of humour, being especially fond of comedies from her native England.
She had the inner strength and resourcefulness to raise a family of five.   She was immensely loved by her family and will be terribly missed. As one of her youngest great granddaughters wrote
"to great gramma I Love you so so much I love how you were so kind and sweet to me. I love that you are so thoutfull and loveing. My favret memory of us is when we got all the sea glass at the Beech with me, you, Mom, Dad, Aut Cathy and taylor. It was so fun. I miss you so much"
She is survived by five children: Paul (Jean) of Fredericton; Pamela Morgan (Keith) of Surrey, BC; John (Maria) of Quispamsis, NB; Catherine of Fredericton, Elizabeth (Jack) of Windsor, NS; 7 grandchildren: Kate Scott (Andrew) of Fredericton; Michael Henheffer (Meagan) of Fredericton; Christopher Morgan (Erin) of Vancouver Island, BC, Roslyn Henderson (Jonathan) of Surrey, BC; David Morgan (Carolyn) of Hammonds Plains, NS; Thomas Henheffer (Katie) of Toronto, ON; Patricia Gillett (Andrew) of Fredericton, NB; 13 great grandchildren: Mikala, Anna, Noah, Maya, Hannah, Cameron, Colby, Ava, Taylor, Sierra, Sophie, Benjamin, and Claire.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Thomas Hall for their kindness, care and compassion during Beryl’s time there.
At Beryl’s request there will be no visitation. There will be a funeral service at Holy Family Church Hanwell, NB on September 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Father John Jennings officiating. Interment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and for those who wish, donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or the Cancer Research Society would be deeply appreciated by the family. Bishops Funeral Home & Crematorium 540 Woodstock Road has been entrusted with the arrangements.
