The family of William Arthur Sands (Billy) are sad to announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton NB on May 24, 2023, at the age of 82. Born in Stanley NB, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Gill) Sands. He was married to the late Elsie Sands who recently passed away just a few months ago.

Billy was a member of the United Church of Canada. He worked as a laborer with different local companies over the years as well as the Department of Transportation and Natural Resources.

He is survived by his children, James of Fredericton, Kenneth of Windsor ON; sister, Eileen (Dave); brothers, Karl and Gary (Dianne) Sands as well as several nieces and nephews.  William will also be missed by his special canine friend, Molly.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John Sands. Valerie Golding (Reg) is his only surviving in-law,

Billy enjoyed welding, building, and engineering, helping his late wife with her gardens, and taking walks and enjoying nature. In addition to his kindness, he will be remembered for his knowledge of anything mechanical.

Visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton, NB on, June 6th 2023, from 10 AM to Noon, followed by a funeral service at 2 PM with Pastor Walker officiating. Following the funeral service, an interment will take place in the Stanley United Church Cemetery where Billy and Elsie will be laid to rest together.
