Art had a 41-year
career in the Canadian Armed Forces where he served in peace keeping
duties and as a Vehicle Technician. He began his
career in the junior ranks and proudly retired as a
Captain. During his service he received many medals
and awards, including the Order of Military Merit from the Governor
General.
Art was also a
longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. There
he served as a Grand Knight and undertook many different roles and
positions. He was a regular face at different
events the Knights held and hosted an annual Halloween party for the
children and grandchildren of his fellow Brothers. He was also active
with the Right to Life. He recently received the
Medal of Merit for his
dedication.
He was known for
his woodworking and so many families and children across the country
have been gifted some of his treasures, whether it be a rocking horse,
a lighthouse, or a pirate chest (and even a wooden
mustang). Nothing brought him more joy than knowing
the happiness he created for others through his
projects.
Art has touched so
many lives in ways and his passing will leave a mark on everyone he
came in contact
with.
