It is with deep sadness that the family of Donald Douglas Morehouse of Waterville-Sunbury announce his passing at Hospice House, Fredericton NB on January 29, 2023. The oldest child of Dereta Melissa (Brown) and the late Stanley Douglas Morehouse, he was born in Fredericton Junction on August 29, 1950.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marilyn Jacqueline (Shanks) Morehouse; his daughter, Cheryl Amy Morehouse of Bathurst; his son, Steven Wayne and his wife Laura Anne Marie (Till) Morehouse of French Lake; his beloved grandchildren, Jaina Elizabeth and Jason Douglas Morehouse; his mother; one brother, Darrell R. W. Morehouse and his wife Michelle (Hiscock) of Haneytown; one sister, Donna M. and her husband Murray Locke of Williamswood, NS; a special niece, Jamie Dawn Morehouse of Haneytown, and a brother-in-law, Fred S. Shanks and his wife Joyce (Armstrong) of French Lake. There are also several nieces and nephews.
Don is predeceased by his infant son, Peter Allen Morehouse (1980); his father, (2010); his father-in-law, Sammy George Shanks (1983); and his mother-in-law, Elaine Isabelle (Boone) Shanks (2022).
Don received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and his Bachelor of Computer Science from UNB Fredericton. During his 31 years at NB Power, he served as a Pre-Commissioning Engineer at Point Lepreau, a Substation and Terminal Design Engineer and retired as a SAP Basis Specialist. Since 2006, Don volunteered as treasurer for the Geary, French Lake, Waterville Cemetery Committee. He loved collecting and gardening daylilies and enjoyed cross stitching.
Words cannot express our thanks and gratitude to the staff at Hospice House for the care that was given to Don while he was there.
Cremation has taken place. Respecting Don’s wishes there will be no service or visitation. When burial takes place it will be in the family plot at the Burton Courthouse Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Geary Baptist Church, Hospice House, or the Geary, French Lake, Waterville Cemetery Committee.
