All are welcome to attend.

The death of Maxine Wheeler, age 92 of Fredericton occurred on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the DECH. She was the daughter of the late David and Annie Bird. She passed surrounded by the love of family.

Maxine was pre-deceased by her daughter Anne Wheeler, her son Walter "Buddy" Wheeler and her granddaughter Paige Bishop. Also the father of her children Milton Wheeler and her second husband Edward Ludford. Her loving brothers John, Glenn, Aubrey and Laurel "Bud" Bird.

She is survived by daughters Cathy Martin (Jim), Laurie Price (Frank), 12 wonderful grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She will be missed by a large extended family who she loved dearly.

Dedicated and hard working, Maxine was a long term employee of UNB. Gifted with intelligence, a keen sense of humour and sharp wit, she was well liked by faculty, staff and students. She was deeply honoured one year to be invited to speak at convocation of behalf of the UNB Staff Association of which she was President at the time. Maxine also was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch #4. Her Pythian sister’s involvement was important as she served on scholarship committees.

Mothers Anglican faith carried her through the ups and downs of life. Nana’s words of wisdom and sage advice was "go with the flow".

She loved nature, animals, sweets, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, getting "dressed up" the Bird family corn boil, jewellery and bling, a good book, travel and people of all cultures.

A favorite trip found her in Treasure Beach, Jamaica with daughters, granddaughters and good friends listening to reggae music and dancing at a goat farm/villa accommodation.

Most important were love and pride in family. Her nurturing and supporting ways were our treasure. She touched our lives forever.

I’m right there in your heart."
