At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday January 15, 2023, Wayne Harris of Fredericton passed away at the age of 83. Born in Fredericton, NB, he was a son of the late George and Clara Marjorie (Ryan) Harris.

Early in his working life, Wayne spent 3 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, after that he worked for roughly 10 years with Butler Fur Company. He opened Wayne’s Rod & Gun, a hunting and fishing retail store. Upon retirement, he spent many years doing carpentry from his home shop. Wayne loved to hunt, fish & trap. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and wheeling. He also loved his hunting camp in Little River. Wayne was an avid card player and a die-hard Toronto Blue Jays fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lydia; children Kelli Macaulay (David) of Maugerville, Jeff Harris (Jill) of Mazerolle Settlement, Joel Harris of Pepper Creek; grandchildren Tricia, Katie, Bradley, James, Ben, and Ashley; sister Judy Randall (Vernon) of Mazerolle Settlement; brother Jim Harris (Kelly) of Washademoak, NB; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will take place at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Wednesday January 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jason Hinsdale officiating. For those attending the service, the family have requested masks be worn.
