John Doherty of New Maryland NB sadly left us on January 3rd, 2023, at the age of 83. John was the son of the late John "Jack" and Blanche (Hickey) Doherty and was born on October 29, 1939.

John spent his childhood in Odell Park in Fredericton NB.  He devoted 44 years to his career at Tractors & Equipment (CAT) where he made many connections and lifelong friends.  It is also where he met his wife, Pauline.  He built a house in New Maryland for himself and his young bride where they spent 41 years together until her passing in 2008.

John was recognized by many in his community as he could be seen daily waiting to meet his young Granddaughter’s bus to drop her off after school.  He continued the tradition of watching for and waving to his Grandson driving by on the bus many years later.   Everyone will miss driving by his house and seeing him sitting by the window in his living room.

John will be dearly missed by his children Pam (Mike) Vidito, Andrea (Troy Rathbone), and Peter (Lynn MacKay).  He was a proud grandfather to Fallon, Grayson and Rowan.  He is also survived by his brother Patrick (Shirley), brother-in-law Paul Nicholson, sister-in-law Artice "Bunny" (David) Jenkins, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and his wife, John was predeceased by his siblings Shirley, Theodore "Ted", James "Ned" and Evelyna, sister-in-law Betty and brother-in-law Lionel.

Visitation to take place at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road in Fredericton on Saturday, January 7th from noon until 2pm, funeral service beginning at 2pm and reception to follow.

Donations in John’s memory can be made to Meals on Wheels in Fredericton or a charity of choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
