It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Donald Joseph Atwin of Keswick Ridge on November 29th 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was 73. Born in Oromocto NB he was the son of the late Mary Atwin.

Donald adored his family, especially his children and grandchildren, wanting to spend as much time with them as he possibly could. His bond with Nolan and Gage was unmeasurable and they were the lights of his life and he was the light of theirs.

Donald was a carpenter by trade, he enjoyed woodworking, playing baseball and hockey. He was well known for his pitching prowess and played well into his 60’s. He also coached ball and hockey. When he wasn’t home or work, you could find Don at the local ball field during the summer and during the winter months, Don would enjoy his Saturday nights watching Hockey Night in Canada. Don was a passionate lifelong New York Yankee and Montreal Canadians fan and he was lucky enough to live out his childhood dream and see both teams play live with either Mary or Burton by his side. A passionate music fan, Don was also fortunate enough to see his favourite musician, Don Fogherty from the band CCR, perform live where he had the privilege to hear his favourite song, Center Field.

He loved animals and they loved him in return, having a special bond with all of his 4-legged companions.

He is survived by his loving wife Rolla Atwin (Harris), their children Mary Rosborough (Adam), Burton Atwin and Stephanie King (Bill). His much-adored grandchildren Nolan, Gage, McKenzie (Carouna), Nathan and Matt as well as his fur babies Brandy and Ripley.

He was predeceased by his mother Mary Atwin, his Aunt Anna, Uncle Jim who were pivotal in his upbringing and his daughter Dawn Marie Sacobie.

Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Saturday December 3rd from 1-2 PM. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel at 2 PM. Interment will be held at a later date.

Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Fredericton SPCA.
