Marlene Rose McQuade of Florenceville-Bristol, NB passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 20, 2022 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in Saint John, NB. She was born on September 27, 1966, and was the fifth of six children of the late Wendell and Rose Tompkins. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her older brother Wayne Burton Tompkins.

In her youth Marlene always wanted to make things pretty and she appreciated the beauty of wildflowers, tree leaves, and even the quartz in the granite rocks along the train track that ran by the farm where she was raised. She could see the beauty in things even when others didn’t notice it. In the winter one of her favorite pastimes was skating on the huge ice pond behind the farmhouse and would often spend hours trying to replicate the moves of figure skaters she’d seen on television.

Marlene enjoyed kyacking, camping, sewing, cooking, spoiling her cat Glenda and being the best wife and mom she could be to her husband, children, and grandchild. She was well known for her fantastic cooking, for always decorating for every season and holiday and could have given Martha Stewart some lessons.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Kevin McQuade, sons Christopher and Sean of Florenceville-Bristol, grandson Benson Xavier, sister Debbie (John) Feeney of Fredericton, brothers Gregory Tompkins of Riverbank, Kenneth (Kim) Tompkins of Hartland, Michael Tompkins of Riverbank; brother in law Patrick McQuade (Tabbi), sister in laws Janet Smith (Mac), Carol McQuade, Cathy Smith (Brian), Mary Cullins (Raymond), Lisa Harvey (David) and Christine McQuade-Taylor (Aaron) as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends locally, across Canada, and in the United States of America.

Respecting Marlene’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donation honoring her memory can be made to the debec animal shelter, or to a charity of the donors choice
