It is with great
sadness that the family of Glendon Murray Adams, 75, announces his
passing on November 23, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital
after a brief battle with cancer. Born January 9, 1947, he was the son
of the late Jesse and Margaret (Jaffrey) Adams of
Fredericton.
He was a newspaper
contractor for the Telegraph Journal, Daily Gleaner and Globe
& Mail over the last 27
years.
Dad was passionate
about coaching and teaching, whether it was as a hockey coach for many
years, first coaching Dave’s teams and then alongside him,
or as a cub and scout leader. He was never in it
for the wins; he wanted to ensure every child had an opportunity to
play or participate regardless of skill. One of his favourite
past-times was moose and deer hunting with Dave and Cam; being in the
outdoors with them made his heart happy. We could
never forget harness racing with his best friend Donnie Bishop at the
Fredericton Raceway for many years. Even in the hospital he was
watching old races online from 30 years ago and pointing out anyone he
knew. As a diehard Canadiens fan, he garnered some
jeers here and there, but he never wavered in his love for his beloved
Habs.
Marilee and David
and his granddaughters were his pride and joy and he loved spending
time with them whenever he could. He was the biggest fan of
Anna’s gymnastics traveling from QC to PEI to watch her
compete and watching Jill in her theatre and dance
shows. He was excited to talk cars with Grace as
she studies to be a mechanic and loved hearing about Ava’s
adventures and passions during Sunday
BBQs.
Dad would have
given the shirt off his back to help anyone and from the outpouring of
love we’ve received, we believe many of you would have done
the same for him. Please raise a can of Coke in his
honor.
Survived by the
love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty), of Mountainside Lodge, to whom he
was married for 53 years; daughter, Marilee Rust (Cam) of Quispamsis;
son, David (Roxann) of Douglas, "Boppy’s girls"
granddaughters Anna and Jillian, Grace and Ava; sister Sally Coffey,
cousin/chosen sister Gloria Horsnell, sister and brother-in-law
Dorothy and Ray Dixon, brother-in-law Donald Lewis, as well as
numerous nieces and nephews across the country whom he
adored.
Thank you to Dr.
Saira Athar, Dr. Arpita Sengupta, Dr. Afzaal Ahmad, Dr. Emily Love,
Dr. Julia Wildish, staff of SJRH ER, especially Pat, 3C South, and the
amazing angels in the Palliative Care unit (especially Deborah,
Theresa, Jennifer, Olivia, Rosanne, Erica, Sylvie, Carolyn and

will never be
forgotten.
A Celebration of
Life will be held at the Capital Winter Club, 232 Rookwood Ave on
December 19th from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers,
donations in his memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit c/o
