It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Frances Joseph Bourque on November 11th, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. John was born in Fredericton, NB on July 23, 1947. John lived and loved three things - his work, the outdoors, and, most of all, friends and family.

John was a man of many accomplishments. He was a business owner, baker, Christmas tree farmer, wreath merchant, hunting guide, and many other successful vocations.  The outdoors was one of his top loves.  He was an expert fisherman, an excellent hunter, trapper and woodsman. On top of all that, he was an avid golfer.

More than all this, John adored his family.  He cherished every moment of the 20 years with his love and wife (and favorite audience for his shenanigans) Charlena Keenan-Bourque. Children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, especially his favourite granddaughter, Abi.

He is deeply missed by all, including his children Tanya Bourque, Crystal Bourque, Bob Fife (Cathy), Tina Fife (Dave) and Leroy Fife (Claude), 6 grandchildren: Abi, Stephanie, Izzy, Matthew, Liam and Abraham. Three sisters, Gloria (Fred White), Linda (Doug Moore) and Loretta (George Crews) as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Eva (Martin) and Ernest Bourque and his sister, Mary Cromwell.

Visitation will take place on Friday November 18th, 2022, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM from Bishop’s Funeral Home , 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November 19th, 2022 at 11AM from Holy Family Parish Church on Hanwell Road, Fredericton. A reception to follow in the church hall.  Masks are recommended to be worn for the Church service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Diabetes Canada (https://www.diabetes.ca/) or to Jobs Unlimited Fredericton (https://jobsunlimitednb.ca) would be appreciated by the family.

John’s family would like to thank the Sussex Extramural nurses and staff, Dr. Ahmad and the Regional Hospital 3CN nurses and staff for the compassionate and wonderful care of John throughout his illness.
