Olive Elsie Lorenzi passed away peacefully on Friday
September 23, 2022, at the Wauklehegan Manor in McAdam,
NB.
Olive is survived by sister Christine Solloway; daughters
Kirkie Jones (Larry) and Bonnie Flynn (Doug Jackson); sons Brian
(Karen) and Neil (Melita) Vincent; 10 grandchildren: Allan and Cheryl
Jones, Greg and Ian Vincent, Tom, Trevor, Dan and Andrew Flynn and
Christopher Vincent; as well as 17 great grandchildren, several nieces
and nephews and other family members who live all over England, Canada
and the United States. Olive was predeceased by her parents
George and Maude Eden, first husband Allan Rowsell, brothers Charles
and Eric, sister Joyce, a nephew and a niece as well as an infant
great grandchild. She was also predeceased by divorced
husbands James Vincent and Peter Lorenzi.
Olive grew up in Birmingham England and had many interesting
stories to tell about World War II. She came to Newfoundland
as an 18-year-old war bride, first landing at Pier 21 in
Halifax. Tragedy left her a widow at 21 with a young
baby. She later remarried and had 3 more children.
In the 1970s she moved back to England but found that she now felt
more Canadian than British and as a result moved back to Canada; first
to Newfoundland, then to Ontario and finally to New
Brunswick. She spent the last two years of her life under
the tender care of the staff at Wauklehegan manor in
McAdam.
Olive loved the outdoors, flowers (lavender especially),
birds and her pets. She was a skilled and talented crafts person who
knitted many cherished items for her friends and family. In
her later years she was especially proud to win
1st prize at the Fredericton exhibition for her
beautifully knitted dolls when she was almost 90 years
old.
A graveside memorial service is planned for October 8th, 2022
at 2pm at the Rockland Cemetery in McAdam, New Brunswick. In
lieu of flowers, donations in Olive’s memory can be made to
the local SPCA shelter or a charity of one’s
choice
