After several months of declining health
our dear Dad, grandfather and great grandfather, Frank Albert Ryder of
Fredericton, NB, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2022 at the age
of 93 with loving children and grandchildren by his
side.
Frank was born in Petitcodiac, NB on
April 13, 1929. He liked to tell his children that the stock
market crashed the year he was born! He was the son of the
late Frank Sr. and Myrtle (MacRae)
Ryder.
The youngest of 3 children Frank was a
Professional Engineer. He was a graduate of Mount Allison
University and the University of New Brunswick with graduate and post
graduate studies at both Nova Scotia Technical College and McGill
University. He enjoyed many years practicing his profession at Buffalo
Forge Company, Canadian Blower and Forge and Air
Canada.
An active Mason and Shriner, Frank joined
Frederictons Hiram Lodge while still in University. Later he became a
member of the Meridian Lodge in Pointe Claire, QC where he served as
Master and then Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of
Quebec. He enjoyed his involvement in various Masonic groups
over the years; the Greeters Unit, the Masonic Choir and the
Fire Brigade to name a few. After retirement Frank and Mavis
returned to Fredericton where Frank rejoined his Home Lodge as well as
the Fredericton Shrine Club where he served as President. Over the
years Frank made many life long friends amongst his Mason and Shriners
brothers.
Frank loved to socialize and was an avid
curler and golfer. He was also a member of St. John's United
Church In Pointe-Claire, QC where he served as an Elder for many years
and later Wilmot United Church where, he was an active member of the
choir. These activities gave him the opportunity to share good times
and the companionship of good
friends.
Frank was predeceased by his wife of 67
years Mavis, his parents, his sister Norma Covey (Don) and his brother
Everett Ryder (Elsie).
He is survived by his children Susan
Ryder, John Ryder (Pam) and Nancy Ryder; his grandchildren Paul Vidal,
