It is with
very heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Ilona
Kuun at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, on July
21st, 2022, after a brief illness. Ilona was
born in The Hague, Holland, in November 1950. She was the eldest
daughter of Daisy and Geza Kuun, whom have both passed away in 2006
and 2007 respectively.
She was a dear
sister and a precious aunt. No one can replace
her.
She is
survived by her sister Lizzy Kuun, and by her nephew’s,
Thomas Bunnik (Evelien) and Jiri Bunnik, niece, Emilie Bunnik, and by
precious great niece, Mia, all of the Netherlands. Ilona will be
missed by her long-time boyfriend, Steven O’Ree of
Fredericton, special friend, Debbie Weinseider, and by her cousins in
other parts of the world and her beloved cat
Mikey.
She will also
be missed by her second family, Guna Kulasegaram and Sarah Gunaseelan,
and K-9 friend, Tonks, as well as Shoba and Devan (Allison)
Gunaseelan.
Ilona has worked at the SPCA, and has
been involved with the Stepping Stone Senior Centre programs, Special
Olympics, Meals on Wheels luncheons and Reach programs prior to Covid.
Ilona had many friends and was always willing and able to extend her
hand to make new friends. She was a devoted parishioner at St.
Dunstan’s Church for the past 50 years. She was very
passionate about all kinds of animals and loved especially cats, and
dogs. She enjoyed many activities such as swimming, bowling, cooking,
crafting, and painting.
Warm summer sun,
Shine
kindly here,
Warm southern
wind,
Blow
softly here.
Green sod
above,
Lie
light, lie light.
Good night, dear
heart,
Good night,
good night.

Twain
