It is with broken
hearts we announce the passing of our darling E. Lewis Chessie on
April 20, 2022 at Thomas Hall, Shannex in Fredericton at the age of
83. Born in Yoho, NB, he was a son of the late John and Mabel (Murphy)
Chessie. Lewis worked as a salesman for Mussen’s for the
majority of his career. He spent the last 27 years at Kings Landing
working in maintenance and with the oxen. Lewis loved to bowl, play
guitar and harmonica, boating and being at the lake with a bunch of
people around. He loved a good joke, loved being around his family,
especially his grandchildren. He will be missed for his charm,
outgoing personality and his beautiful
smile.
He is survived by his
loving wife of 63 years, Nancy; his children Elizabeth LaHaie (Rene)
of Fredericton, William Chessie (Shelly) of Yoho, Brenda Chessie
(Alvin) of Baie St. Anne; grandchildren Alyssa Bruce (Brandon), Darcey
Wheeler (Joe), Jenna Wheeler (Cody), Leanne Wheeler (Mitch), Travis
Chessie (Amy) and Matthew Chessie.; 5 great-grandsons Max, Noah,
Brayden, Rogan and Carter; brother Lynn Chessie (Theresa);
sister-in-law Linda Chessie; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Lewis was also predeceased by his brothers Lorne
and Alton Chessie and by a son-in-law Buddy
Wheeler.
A funeral mass will
be held at Holy Family Parish Church on Hanwell Road on Saturday April
23, 2022 at 12:00 pm with Father Dass Chinnappan officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date. Donations to the
Alzheimer’s Society or the Fredericton SPCA would be
