Gary F. "Shack" Smith passed away at
home on January 25th, 2022, at the age of
64.
Gary was a proud Islander, "over
home" as he would say, and that is where his love of harness
racing started. Over the years he was involved in many aspects of the
sport and in recent years he was a Paddock Judge which he committed
many hours to serving at several
racetracks.
Gary is survived by his son, Russell Hambly of
Charlottetown PEI and his special friend Beckey
Daniel.
He was predeceased by his mother Lexie Mae
(Davidson) Smith of Charlottetown PEI.
Gary will be missed by so many in the harness
racing community as well as all who were fortunate to call him a
friend.
His PEI roots were near and dear to his heart
and when it is safe to travel, he will be taken home and laid to
rest.

Woodstock Road, Fredericton NB, have been entrusted with Gary's
