The passing of Kenneth Paul, of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on January 21, 2022.  He was 88.

Born in Stayner, Ontario, he was the son of the late William and Florence (Taylor) Paul as well as the loving husband of 46 years to the late Mary (Wylie) Paul.

Kenneth was a dedicated employee of Ontario Hydro before transitioning to a successful business owner with the Southgate Garden Centre in Port Elgin.  It included a garden centre, gas station, service centre and licensing bureau all in one.  He got back into the hydro business in 1976 when he moved to Fredericton, NB with his wife and youngest daughter and went to work for NB Power at Point Lepreau.  He remained with them until his retirement in 1998.

Dedicated to public service, he was a long-time member of the Lions Club of Canada and was a Reeve for the town of Port Elgin, Ontario.

He will be remembered for his love of fiddle music, inherited from his Father, a fiddle player and maker of violins, as well as his love of puzzles, crosswords, harness racing, The Blue Jays and his home away from home, Tim Horton’s. 

Survived by one son, Stephen Paul (Joann) of Port Elgin, Ontario; two daughters: Lynn Stefura of Edmonton, Alberta and Katherine Bilodeau (Marc) of Cambridge, Ontario; one sister-in-law Dorothy McFadyen (John); five grandchildren: Christopher, Angela, Shannon, Peter and Shelley; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his companion of twelve years, Norma Reeves.

He is predeceased by two sisters: Melba Bradley and Mary Stephens; and one brother, Everett Paul.

No visitation or funeral service by request.

A private family burial will take place in Port Elgin, Ontario at a later date.
