With profound sadness we announce the passing of Evelyna (Doherty) Nicholson, our loving mother, wife, and a friend to all she touched. She left us at Moncton City Hospital on December 28, 2021. Evelyna was born on June 29th, 1944 in Fredericton NB, to her loving parents, the late John "Jack" and Blanche (Hickey) Doherty. Evelyna was proud to have grown up in Odell park where her father was the caretaker for the City.  In 1966 Evelyna became wife and best friend to her husband Paul Nicholson.

Evelyna worked for a short time as a telephone operator for NBTel before becoming a wonderful full-time mother and homemaker.  She lived a full life and took great joy in gathering friends and family together for meals and celebrations. She loved to cook, enjoyed shopping (especially for shoes), sewing, crafts, and liked to travel.  Whenever asked her height she was always sure to say 4 feet, 11 and ¾ inches.

In addition to her husband Paul (known as Bobo to his grandchildren), Evelyna (known as Baba to her grandchildren) is survived by her three daughters; Jody (Rod Jordan), Stacey (Bryce Ford), Danielle (Matt) Amos, grandchildren; Benjamin, Elijah, Jorji, Matthew, Molly, Quinn, Morgan, Caleb and Mallory and a special chosen grandson Ernest Williams.  She will also be dearly missed and forever in the hearts of her brothers, James "Ned" Doherty, John Doherty, and Patrick (Shirley) Doherty; sister-in-law Artice "Bunny" Jenkins as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.

While we are sad to see her go, we are grateful for her time with us, she will be reunited with her parents, her sister Shirley, brother Theodore "Ted" and her sister-in-laws Betty and Pauline Doherty and brother-in-law Lionel.

Bishops Funeral Home and crematorium have been entrusted with the arrangements. A Funeral mass with Father John Jennings, will be held at St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church on Monday, January 3rd, 2022, at 11am.  The service will be live-streamed.  Those attending should keep in mind that current covid restrictions and protocols will be followed. Proof of double covid 19 vaccinations and government issued ID will be required. Please bring and wear a mask.

Online condolences and sharing of memories may be made at www.bishopsfuneralhome.com . Memorial donations in Evelyna’s memory may be made to Hospice Fredericton, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
