It is with great sadness that the family of Elder Donna Aucoin (Gabriel), member of St. Mary’s First Nation Wolastook Women, announce her passing on December 2nd, 2021, at the Wik-Cihpolakon Senior Care Home. Born on March 30th, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Walter Gabriel and Marion (Nash) Gabriel.
Donna enjoyed sewing, going for walks, picking blueberries, and driving in a 1937 Pontiac with her husband Willie.
She will be missed by her sons, William Blake Aucoin (Nancy), John Brent Aucoin (Brenda), and Derrick Blaine Aucoin (Vanessa), six grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, Christine Gabriel, Hope Bennett, and Tony Gabriel, and half-sister, Betty Leon, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, William Aucoin, sisters, Lillian Kocsis, and Joanne Gabriel, half-sister, Anna Lola, and dog Shinook.
A special thank you goes out to the staff at Wik-Cihpolakon for the care, compassion, and love given to mom during her time there and an extra special thank you to the special angels who kept moms spirit up, made her laugh and enhanced her life. As well as a special thank you to Chief Polchies for making it possible for Donna to come back home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bishop’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton NB. A small, private family service will take place at a later date, with interment at St. Anthony’s cemetery.
