Claudine Thomas died peacefully on November 11, 2021, in Fredericton, with family at her bedside. She was the wife of the late Emery Thomas (2006) and daughter to the late Vernet and Fay (Hayes) Tracy. Claudine was 92 years old, born in Tracy Mills, NB on June 18th, 1929.

Mum was the last surviving member of her immediate family of eight children. She was predeceased by three brothers, Vernon, Malcolm, and Truman, as well as four sisters, Katherine, Maxine, Leola, and Betty.

Surviving Claudine is her daughters, Maureen Worrell (Glenn), Deanna Wilson (Maurice), Paula Charbonneau (John), and son Neil Thomas (Sara). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Julie, Amanda, Stephanie, Parker, Noah, and Abbie, two great-grandchildren, Jack and Liam, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Her early years growing up in a large farm family, with endless chores and self-made entertainment, helped foster the skills and attitudes to become the steadfast person we know her to be. She was frugal, resourceful, intelligent, conscientious, and accepting of what life delivered, often met with an understated but quirky and sharp sense of humor.

Claudine graduated from NB Teachers College and had a short teaching career before becoming a stay-at-home mom to raise her children. As part of her community work, she served as Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, with Brownies in the Girl Guide movement, and a member of the Home and School Association.

She was a faithful member of her church in Centerville and most recently Island View church in Lower Kingsclear, NB.

Our family hopes you will think of Claudine with a smile, and remember her for her kindness and quiet generosity of spirit. Friendship and service to others were important to her, evidenced by her pots of coffee (always hot), legendary baking, and welcoming conversation.

There will be no visitation by request and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Dunphy Cemetery Extension in Island View, NB.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Island View Church in Lower Kingsclear, or the Pine Grove Nursing Home, on Woodstock Road, Fredericton.
