With heavy hearts the family of John (Jack) Harvey Malloy announce his peaceful passing on May 8th, 2021, with his family by his side at Hospice Fredericton.

Born on June 1, 1935 in Fredericton, he was the eldest son of the late John and Hazel (MacKenzie) Malloy. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his special grandfather John Jacob Malloy and his special aunt Elizabeth (Betty) Malloy.

He is survived by his wife Carol (Irwin) and three sons Jeffrey (Peggy) of Fredericton, Peter and Michael of Bayside, NB, and two special grandchildren, Maggie and Sam, brothers Wayne (Julia) of Fredericton, Deane (Lynne) of Alberta, sisters Sharon and Linda, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jack was born and raised in Fredericton.  He trained as a Stationary Engineer but choose to pursue a 30-year career with Canada Post as a mail carrier allowing him to be outside and interact with people.  He had a quick wit, gentle spirit, and kind heart. Jack was a great storyteller and had a memory for details. He loved nature and animals especially horses and dogs. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his grandfather as a child. Jack excelled in many sports growing up, primarily baseball, softball, and hockey (goalie).  He was inducted into the NB Softball Hall of Fame and the Fredericton City Wall of Fame as part of the Neill’s Softball Team (1960-64).

Family was Jack’s number one priority.  Jeff, Peter, and Michael were the "apple of his eye". He loved coaching his boys ball teams, and "making memories" on the many road/bus trips for baseball, speedskating, and hockey! As head of Malloy Boys Stable, Jack was passionate about harness racing and spent many years racing horses at Fredericton Raceway with his sons Peter and Michael.  He was proud of all his boys and loved talking and advising about the farm in Bayside. His love for hockey was abundant and he was the unofficial "GM" of FHS Black Kats Hockey Team where his son Jeff coaches.

Jack was so proud of his grandchildren Maggie and Sam’s accomplishments in sports and school.

Special thanks to Dr. Blyth and the staff of 4 North West and Hospice for their compassionate and professional care over the past few weeks.  A special thanks to Dr. E. Hanson for his care and friendship over the years.

By request, there will be no visitation or funeral at his time.  A family graveside memorial will be held at a later date.

For those who wish, a donation can be in Jack’s memory to Hospice Fredericton or to the Fredericton SPCA.  Online condolences can be made at www.bishopsfuneralhome.com.
