We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Monique Mary Paul of Saint Mary’s First Nation on Thursday April 1, 2021 at the age of 23. Born in Fredericton, Monique was a special employee with St. Mary’s Supermarket, always helpful and cheerful. She was a proud member of the Black Bear Program at CFB Gagetown, receiving an award as most improved soldier. Monique was an avid hockey player with the FYHA. She had a great sense of adventure and would be the first person to try things. She was happy and at peace with nature, spending as much time as possible outdoors. Her niece Adelynne was her best friend, favorite niece  and had a soul mate quality relationship with her.

She is survived by her mother Jennifer and Kirk; father John and Terri; siblings Jonathon (Katie), Forrest (Chloe), Keenan, twin sister Nerissa (Robert), baby brother John; step-brother Zachery Gates; step-sister Gracie Gates; grandparents Gary and Joan Paul, Alfonse Paul, Nancy Brooks, John Paul, Marlena and Paul Hannah; great grandmother "Nanny" Sexton; godmother Stephanie Atkinson; special cousins Dylan Brooks and Marcie Paul; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She will be resting at the Maqiyahtimok Center 240 Maliseet Drive St. Mary’s First Nation with visitation beginning Saturday evening April 3, 2021 at 8:00 pm until MondayApril 5, 2021. The funeral service will be held, with social distancing measures in place, on Monday April 5, 2021 at the Maqiyahtimok Center at 1:00 pm.
