Maureen J (Young) Buckingham died at Thomas Hall - Shannex on October 14, 2020 at the age of 85. Among those mourning are Rick (Kathy) Buckingham of Fredericton, N.B., Chris McCain of Toronto, ON, Beth (Paul) Baxter of Bedford, N.S.; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Maureen always had a strong bond with her family. She grew up in a large family in N.S. and loved to spend time with her brothers and sisters and their families. She encouraged family and friends to visit and loved to have company over the holidays. Whether it was Florenceville, Fredericton, Florida or at the camp or cottage, there was always a gathering.

Maureen and her late husband Clayton ran Buckingham’s Store together for over 40 years. They loved curling, golfing, traveling, dog trials and for over 30 years they wintered at Madeira Beach where they had wonderful friends. Maureen was an avid bridge player and quite often initiated ‘Happy Hour’ wherever she went. She had amazing friends in Fredericton, N.S., Florenceville, along with her dear friends in Woodstock.

Maureen spent her last five years with her Shannex family and looked forward to her visitors.  She loved to hear old stories and catch up on the news and she beamed when her grandchildren dropped in to entertain her. She always appreciated the care she received at Thomas Hall and spoke very highly of her Shannex family.

Due to Covid 19 concerns, a private family service will take place without visitation on October 18, 2020 at 2 pm. The service will be streamed online at bishopsfuneralhome.com . Please click on the camera found on Maureen’s online obituary to view the live stream.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart & Stroke, Alzheimer’s Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
