It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juliette Harolyn Rioux, who passed peacefully at her home in Hanwell, NB on October 6, 2020.  She was 73 years old.  Born in Shediac, NB, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Juliette (Leger) Breau and the patient and loving wife of 49 years to Robert Rioux.

Harolyn is survived by her children, Julie Rioux-Maier (Derrick) and Sharon Crouse (Adam) of Fredericton, NB, and Lorraine Rioux (Pete Green) of Halifax, NS, as well as her treasured grandchildren - Evan, Robert, Lauren and Anna.

She will be greatly missed by her sister, Dorothy (predeceased by Roger) Boudreau, and her four brothers: Robert Breau (Francine), Paul Breau (Donna), Peter (predeceased by Thérèse) Breau and Raymond Breau, all of Shediac, NB.

Harolyn was not only a strong and devoted mother and wife, with unconditional love and understanding, she was also a wonderful role model to everyone around her.  She was a kind and caring individual who loved animals and very much appreciated the purr of a cat.  Above all else, she adored her grandchildren and they too loved spending time with their Mémère.

Having paused a career to raise her family, she bravely returned to studies in order to resume teaching.  At the age of 50, she made it to the Dean’s list and proudly graduated from UNB.  A retired schoolteacher, she truly loved working with children and had a passion for teaching. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Extra-Mural nurses and staff, especially Danielle, as well as the Palliative Care team members.  Your kindness and gentle guidance were truly appreciated.

At the request of the family, there will be no memorial service or visitation. Funeral services will be held at Holy Family Church (Hanwell Road) on Saturday, October 10th at 1PM with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will be in the Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery on the Hanwell Road. Due to the pandemic, the number of people permitted in the church will be limited, as per current restrictions.

For those who wish, memorial tributes can be made to a local SPCA, literacy group, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences and the sharing of memories may be sent through www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
