Louise Washburn passed away peacefully at the Oromocto Public Hospital on September 9th, 2020 at the age of 94. She was born on March 18, 1926 in Blackville, NB.  She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Leontine McCallum.

In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband Thomas Washburn, children Arden and Ardeth Washburn, step grand-child Dustin McCormack and brother-in-law Warren Underhill.

Louise is survived by her sister Margret Underhill, children Michael (Alexa) Washburn, Kim (Linda) Washburn, Crista (Bruce) McCormack; grandchildren, Craig Washburn, Dustin Washburn, Russ Washburn, Kara Washburn,  Jana McCormack, Jeffrey McCormack and Jordan McCormack;   11 great grandchildren and as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and large extended family.

She was a member of the Sts. John & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Auxiliary member of the Canadian Legion, past member of the Fredericton Quilters Guild, where each child and grandchild benefited from her talents with special quilt. 

Louise worked at the Sir Edmund Head Hall Library at UNB, for many years enjoying her interactions with the students.  Her greatest love in life was her family. She adored her grandchildren and always had time for a quick hug and a little treat.  She was kind and generous and looked out for those around her.

The family would like to thank the many people who supported Louise during the past few years, the many personal care workers at St. Anne’s Court, nursing staff of the Dr. Evertt Chalmers Hospital 4 East, Oromocto Special Care home and the Oromocto General Hospital.

There will be no funeral service, interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery with family.

Donations in Louise’s memory can be made to a charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
