On Tuesday, April 28, 2015, Frances Louise Howell of Upper Kingsclear, NB, widow of the late Herbert H. Howell, departed this life and went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. As in life she demonstrated courage and resolve in her final hours. Frances passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital at age 95, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in McAdam, NB on April 15, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Elizabeth (Grieve) Hood.

Frances graduated from the Provincial Normal School and was a School Teacher for a number of years until her children came along and then she devoted her life to raising and nurturing her family. She also was a Child Care Worker, lovingly caring for children in her own home. For a number of years she was Custodian at the Kingsclear Consolidated School where she made many lasting friendships. A deeply spiritual person, Frances was a faithful member of the Upper Kingsclear Baptist Church and was a church organist for 80 years. She taught Sunday School, was a Dominion Life Member of W.M.S. and was actively involved with Women’s Aglow for many years. She also loved to travel and go camping and will be remembered for the many quilts she presented to family and friends over the years.

"Her children arise and call her blessed". Frances loved and was dearly loved by her 8 children, Beth Grass (Larry) of Lake George, Wendy Hood of Magundy, Keith Howell (Jane) of Upper Kingsclear, Lorna Donahue (Leon) of New Market, Charles Howell (Susan) of Upper Kingsclear, Paul Howell (Heather) of Hanwell, Donna Newton (Russ) of Upper Kingsclear and Robert Howell (Elaine) of Fredericton. Frances was continually delighted by her 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Thelma Brown of Gagetown; a brother Donald Hood (Lorraine) of Magaguadavic and sisters-in-law, Cicely Kilburn of Calgary and Vera Howell of Fredericton; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Aside from her parents and husband, Frances was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Carol Joy (Lewis) Howell, a son-in-law, Alton Hood; two sisters, Grace Duplissea (late Carey) and Lorna McCutcheon (late Clair) also brothers-in-law, Ralph Howell, Orland Brown and Douglas Kilburn.

Frances is resting at the Upper Kingsclear Baptist Church, 15 Mazerolle Settlement Road, Upper Kingsclear on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A service celebrating the life of Frances Louise Howell will be held from the church on Saturday, May 2 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kendell McRae officiating. Interment in the Kingsclear Baptist Cemetery. The family has suggested Greenhill Lake Camp Inc., 40 Greenhill Lake Rd., Greenhill Lake, NB E6E 1E7 or a charity of your choice for memorial contributions.
