It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Nathaniel Caravan on March 25, 2015, surrounded by his family at the Upper River Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Woody Point, Newfoundland on October 8, 1935. Jim was the son of the late Nathaniel and Hannah Caravan.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of almost 30 years, Lesley, and their son Nicholas (Lauren), his previous wife Evelyn and their children Lynn, Michael (Cheryl), Timothy (Joan), Stepsons David Brennan (Lorri) and Michael Brennan (Jessica). Jim is also survived  by his grandchildren Ryan Harte (Shannon), Amy McGuey (Jodi), Danielle Schriver (Evan), Dominique Caravan, and their mother Michele, Declan Brennan and Ava Brennan.

Jim is also survived his sister Dolly Clarke, sister in law Marie Caravan, Lillian Caravan and numerous nieces and nephews in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Jim is predeceased by brothers Rendell, Walter, Maxand sisters Ella, Eileen and Helen. Jim will also be missed by his special friends at Lunar Rogue and his constant canine companion Walter as they drove around town.

Jim enlisted in RCAF and left Newfoundland in 1952 and during his career had postings in France, England and Greenwood. He retired from the RCAF as a Mcpl in 1972. He spent 10 years Optyl and then purchased Acadia Hearing Aids, where he enjoyed his work every day until he retired after 30 years. He was also one of the founding members of the NB Hearing Aid Society.

Jim was a huge Toronto Maple Leaf's fan and loved watching the birds visit his well stocked bird feeder, doing crosswords, reading and visiting his summer home in Nova Scotia.

Visitation will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home on Monday March 30 from 2-4 and 7-9. The Funeral will be at Christ Church Cathedral at 2 pm on Tuesday March 31, with the Very Rev. Geoffrey Hall officiating.

For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Dunroamin Animal Shelter.
