Ute Ruggeri was born on August 7, 1939 to Franz and Ella Baumeister of Reiterswiesen, Bavaria, a family of teachers and church organists for generations. She became the first girl of her village to attend university and graduated as a language teacher. She lived in Germany, France, England, the U.S.A., Mexico and throughout Canada and still kept contact with her friends there. Ute was very close to her Catholic faith and loved singing in church choirs since her days in the Convent School choir.

She was always generous, loved children and was very welcoming to immigrants, as she herself was one.  She also developed a love of country life and her flower garden in Hanwell since the 1970s. She was also an avid reader and member of Roseanna’s Book Club.

Ute died suddenly on Friday morning, March 6, 2015. She is survived by her husband Joe, children Franco, Jimmy, Angela, her grandchildren Lizzy, Venus and Aaron, her brother Volker, sister-in-law Hedi and nephew Alexander and family. Ute sponsored children throughout her life and is also survived by five current girls and one leprosy patient, who were her pride and joy.

The funeral will be held at Holy Family Church Hanwell Road on Thursday, March 12 at noon with father Monte Peters officiating. Donations can be made to the Catholic Blind Institute on Ute’s behalf.
