Nancy Gallant was called to dance with God’s Angels on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Born in Mont Carmel, PEI, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Julie Anne Poirier (nee Gallant) and wife of E. Melvin Gallant.

In addition to her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss and treasure wonderful memories, her daughter Dianne and son Rick (Heather), grandsons J.R. and Andrew, sisters-in-law Aline (Ulric) and Anita (Pascal), special niece Darlene (John) plus several other nieces and nephews as well as many cherished and beloved friends.

Nancy, always a ‘kid’ at heart, loved life and her family. She enjoyed her flowers and gardens, and loved to play games of any sort. She spent many a night with the Bishop Drive Tim Horton’s gang, filling the place with laughter and of course, the infamous scratch tickets. Although she never won the "million", she was just as excited if she won a free ticket but that’s the kind of lady she always was. She cherished her times at Bluegrass and loved to dance and sing with her friends. Nancy asked for all of us to remember her through acts of kindness, scratch a ticket or two and plant flowers and dance in her memory.

In addition to being a loving wife, Mom and friend, she worked as a waitress for many restaurants in Fredericton. When she retired, she volunteered at the Fredericton Soup Kitchen and The Veterans Unit. She was a member of the Fredericton Bluegrass and Old-time Music Association and the Ladies Auxiliary – Royal Canadian Legion #4.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family; besides her parents, her 7 brothers, Willie; Alban; Ben; Ernie; John; Ulric; Pascal and 6 sisters, Bertha; Zennie; Regina, Clara, Stella; Janie, who all greeted her upon her glorious arrival into heaven.

Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, where visitation will take place on Thursday, February 19 from 6PM to 8PM Only. A celebration of Nancy’s life will take place at St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, February 20 at 12:00, with Father Bill Brennan officiating. Private Interment to follow at a later date.

A special thank you to the Nurses and staff of 4 South East for taking care of ‘Nana Nance’, you are truly amazing people; Susan Currie, Clinical Nurse Specialist; Dr. B. Sainz, Palliative Physician; and Dr. Andrea Hickey and of course all her special friends – too numerous to mention but you know who you are. Thank you all for helping Mom during her incredibly difficult journey.

For those who wish, Donations can be made to the Fredericton Hospice; Tim Horton’s Children’s Camp or a charity of the donor’s choice. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
