It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Rankin Ashley Porter, which occurred on January 22, 2015 at the Dr. Chalmers Hospital.

He was born in Springfield NB on July 3, 1942. He graduated from the United Pentecostal Bible College in Marysville. Moved to Woodstock Ontario where he pastored at a home mission United Pentecostal Church for four years. He moved to Hamilton where he worked at the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital as a nursing assistant and also a corrections officer at the Hamilton Corrections Centre. He moved to McAdam NB in 1981. He was a nursing orderly at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen and later operated Ray’s Rehab Shell in McAdam. He was on the Board of Directors at Lakeland Industries also located in McAdam.

Survived by his wife Patricia (Smith) Porter; two daughters Cheri Cleghorn (Terry), Denise MacKay (Derrick); two sons Shawn (Tanya), Christopher (Doreen); seven grandchildren Michael (Ashlee), Ryan (Brenda), Sarah (Josh), Katie (Brendan), Bradley, Braydan and Austin; six great grandchildren Cailey, Brooke, Eliza, Nathan, Brody and Jayden; one sister Ruby Anderson; many brother and sister in laws; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Basil and Marguerite (McGuire) Porter, five brothers Harold, Gerald, Ernest, George, and Charles, three sisters Myrtle Stickney, Margaret MacDonald and Joyce Foreman.

A memorial service will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel, 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton, NB on WEDNESDAY January 28, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. George Clark officiating. Burial service will be held at a later date at the Scotch Settlement Cemetery.

For those who wish to donate in memory of Rankin the family suggested the Chalmers Hospital Foundation which the funds will be given to the Cardiac Care Unit.
