It is with extreme sadness that we report the passing of our mother, Shirley Helen Mae Price, at Copper Sky Lodge in Spruce Grove, Alberta on November 24, 2014. She was 79.

Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Harold (Bill) and Edith (Parker) Pledge. She lived in Fredericton until 2010 before health issues took her to Alberta.

She was a bookkeeper/administrator at UNB’s Chemistry Department for many years.

Shirley is survived by a son Rick Price (Opal) of Fredericton, NB one daughter Karen Price of Spruce Grove, AB, and chosen son Tom McFadzen (Eileen) of Jarvie, AB, 6 grandchildren, Corey, Craig, Miranda, Courtenay, Jodie and Bradley, 8 great-grandchildren plus several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Baby David and her sister Doreen Phyllis Shanks.

Special thanks and many hugs to Aryte Darline, Michelle Mahoney & Christie Christman, whose friendship enriched Mom’s life during her time in Alberta. Also, special thanks to Copper Sky facility for seeing to Mom’s needs – extra hugs to Brandy, Madeline, Juliana, Brenda, Connie, Josephine (Jo), Donna and more recently Nonnah, who have been Mom’s core team of caregivers since she moved into Copper Sky. They are angels all.  Thanks also to Madonna who was Mom’s liaison to health care services.

A memorial service will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, with a reception to follow.  The family suggests a local Alzheimer’s group or any charity of one’s choice for memorial contributions.
