Ruth Eileen Lindsay, loving wife of the late Robert "Bob" G. Lindsay, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, November 24, 2014. Eileen passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital comforted by family and dear friends. Eileen was born in Saint John, NB on August 19, 1937, one of seven children born to the late Herbert and Muriel (Piers) Betts.

Her diverse career would include a number of years as a Real Estate Agent, Bank Teller and Bookkeeper for Best Way Ventilation Ltd., a business which Eileen and her late husband Bob owned and operated until the year 2000.

Eileen lived her life to the fullest and lived it as "always pleasing unto the Lord". She loved the Lord and was an inspiration and a living testimony of the Love of God to all who knew and loved her. Eileen was very involved in her local church, Christ Central Church, Fredericton. Christian Ministry was an integral part of Eileen’s life and in 1979 she began a Women’s Aglow Ministry and served in that ministry as President for the Fredericton area, later as Area Board President and then as National Representative for Canada. She will be fondly remembered by those women whose lives were changed through her leadership and ministry.

Eileen was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She leaves behind a loving legacy for her son, R. Steven Lindsay (Dianne) of Calgary and her daughter, Patricia Sewalt of Garland, Texas. She always cherished the time spent with her six grandchildren, Jessica (Scott) MacDonell, Jeremy (Chelsey) Lindsay, Timothy (Lauren) Sewalt, Ian, Ryan (Colette) and Brandon Sewalt. Eileen also leaves behind two much loved and adored great- grandchildren, Owen and Ariana. She will be dearly missed by her sisters, Carol (Gary) Pineau of Ontario, Linda (Blair) Wetmore of Calgary, Katherine (David) Kingston of Fairvale, NB and Karen (Danny) McGaghey of Saint John and also by her brothers, Donald Betts (Carol) of Ontario and Jim Betts (Charlene) of Kingston, Peninsula. Her many nieces and nephews always held a special place in her heart.

There will be no visitation hours by family request. A service celebrating Eileen’s life will be held from Smythe Street Cathedral, 913 Smythe Street, Fredericton on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Joe Crummey officiating assisted by Rev. Jim Lewis. A graveside committal service will be held in the Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, Kingston Peninsula, NB on Saturday, November 29 at 11:00 AM. The family has requested NO Flowers Please and as an alternative, memorial contributions to Christ Central Church Outreach Program, Fredericton, Women In Transition House, Fredericton or Sarah Tracy Centre for Women, Tracy, NB would be greatly appreciated.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton (458-1885). Online condolences and the sharing of memories can be made through www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
