The passing of William Stuart Duncan, beloved husband of Marjorie E. (Belcher) Duncan occurred at Thomas Hall Nursing Home, Fredericton on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. 

Bill was born September 18, 1923 on the family homestead on Duncan Lane, Fredericton. He was a son of the late James and Cora (Barton) Duncan. Bill was a graduate of the Fredericton High School, Class of 1941. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a proud member of the North Atlantic Squadron. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 4 Fredericton, for over 60 years.

Bill and Marjorie owned and operated York Electric Ltd., a successful Fredericton business, for over 30 years. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved being in the outdoors.

Bill was the loving husband of Marjorie for 69 years, a much loved father of Carol and Nancy (deceased 1998). He was also a devoted and loving grandfather to Laura, Catherine (Michael), Kari (Brad) and Ryan; great-grandfather to Rebecca, Benjamin, Margaret, Brody and Logan. Bill is also survived by brothers Kenneth, Robert, John, Alden and sisters-in-law Ethel, Barbara, Louise, Janet and Ella and son-in-law Brian and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was also predeceased by his dear friend and son-in-law Norm, his only sister Rebecca Dunphy, brothers George, Eugene, David and sisters-in-law Agnes and Margaret, brother-in-law James Dunphy, niece Sharon Duncan and nephews RCMP Deputy Commissioner Stephen Duncan and Brent Duncan.

The family will receive visitors at St. James Presbyterian Church, 1991 Highway 640, Hanwell, NB on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM. Rev. Wendy MacWilliams will officiate assisted by Rev. Dr. Basil Lowery. Interment will be in the Rural Cemetery.

The family has suggested the Kidney Foundation for memorial contributions. Bishop’s Funeral Home (458-1885) have been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
