It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Evelyn Myrtle Phillips of Maugerville, NB, on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and long-time dear friend, Myrtle Matheson.

Evelyn was born at Charlottetown, PEI on November 17, 1938. She had a mother’s heart and understood everything that comes with that. Evelyn was hospitable, welcomed all and always enjoyed the company of friends and family. She was a homemaker all her life. Evelyn and her late husband, Harold were active members of the Mick Mack Trailer Club and the Oromocto Pioneers Square Dancing Club where they made many lasting friendships. Evelyn also enjoyed Seniors Bowling with her friends. She was a member of the Maugerville Women’s Institute and was always willing to lend a helping hand at church functions and when possible, helped at the Vanier Co-Op during their busy seasons.

A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Rose Brewster (Jim) of Maugerville and two sons, John Phillips (Wendy) of Smith, Alberta and Tony Phillips (Carolanne) of Noonan. Evelyn adored and was very proud of her 10 grandchildren, Tyrone Terry (Trina), Amy Phillips, Tabatha Phillips, Alexia Phillips, Andrew Brewster (Samantha), Michelle Brewster (Craig), Adam Phillips, Alex Brewster, Candace Jones (Steve) and Joel Phillips. Evelyn deeply loved and cherished her 10 great-grandchildren, Hailey, Nicholas, Isabelle, Aila, Caleb, Benjamin, Summer, Addison, Sophie and Anastasia.

Her husband, J. Harold Phillips predeceased her in 1998 and her son Kenny Phillips and his wife Norma both predeceased her in 1997.

The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Wednesday, October 29 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A service celebrating Evelyn’s life will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 30 at 11 AM. Interment will be in the Upper Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be sent to the Chalmers Foundation (Palliative Care Unit), Canadian Diabetes Association (NB) or the Canadian Cancer Society.

A special "thanks" to the amazing staff and volunteers at the DECH Palliative Care Unit.
