Mary "Gertrude" Breen died peacefully after a long and full life on October 14th. She was the widow of the late George J Breen, who died March 10, 1998. Gert was born in Petersville, Queen’s Co. NB on October 4th, 1914, the daughter of James E and Mary T (Connors) Hogan.

In the early years she resided in Petersville and has lived in Kingsclear NB for the past sixty years. Gert and George were married on June 26, 1944 at St. Ignatius Church, Petersville. Gert and George had to relocate twice due to expropriation. The first time was for the building of Camp Gagetown and the second was for the building of the Mactaquac Damn. Gert was a very devouted Catholic, a member of the CWL for 55 plus years and an exceptional mother, who loved her family dearly.

She enjoyed a good game of cards, 45’s in the early years and Skip Bo in the latter. Gert was a faithful, kind, generous woman and we were blessed to have her in our lives.

Gert is survived by her two children, John Edward Breen (Dan) and Katherine Ann Clark (Jerry). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jay Clark (Sarah), Lloyd Breen (Tara), Teena  Breen; her great grandchildren, Jasper, Holly, Hogan , Brandon, Cameron , Kaylee, Tatianna, Ethan, Christopher and Samantha and  her brother Daniel E. Hogan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, special niece Linda Adams and nephew Ed Hogan and sister-in-laws Evelyn Hogan and Mary Hogan.

Gert was predeceased by her parents, her husband George, her two infant sons, Edward Arthur and James Patrick Breen, her sisters, Margaret E Hogan, Sister Ethel T. Hogan SCIC and Evelyn M. Garland, her brothers, John J., William L. James A., Francis M., and Leo T Hogan, and Daughter-in-law Debbie.

Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd, Fredericton, NB, on Friday October 17 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, on Saturday October 18, 2014 at 11 AM with Fathers David Martin, Ken Weir and Matthew Onwugigbo to co-celebrate.  Internment in St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
