Dot passed away peacefully at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB on Friday, October 3, 2014. Born December 14, 1920 in St. Andrew’s, NB, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Burns) Wight.

Dot was a member of Wilmot United Church, Fredericton, and was active in the UCW for many years. Dot was also a Life Member of the IODE - Fort Nashwaak Chapter.

Dot is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Spencer); son-in-law Rick Brown; grandson, Andrew Spencer; great-grandchildren Zoë and Kë Shepherd and a brother Paul Wight; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dot was predeceased by her husband, A. Murray Matthews in 1988; her son, Richard M. Matthews in 2000 and her sister, Jean Arnold.

The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday, Oct. 7 beginning at 12 noon until 2:00 PM at which time a funeral service will take place at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Peter Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunny Bank Cemetery.

The family has suggested the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation and The Canadian Cancer Society for memorial contributions.
