Robert M. Hetherington "Bob" passed away July 5th , 2014. He is survived by his wife, Marie (Nason); sons, Gary of Rusagonis, Michael (Glenna) of Beaver Dam; daughter, Ann McGinley (Gregg) of Rusagonis; brothers, John of Waasis and Dennis of Wassis; 3 grandchildren, Cathy Flanagan, Erin and Kyle Hetherington and two great-grandchildren, Jessie Flanagan and Drayden Hetherington. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Ruth (Manchester) and Joseph of Rusagonis and brothers William of Rusagonis and Rueben of Tracy.
Bob was born in Merriport, England on August 4 1926. He came to Canada in 1932 and grew up in Rusagonis on the family farm. He walked to school through a covered bridge to a one room school house. He enlisted and trained for the war…a war that fortunately ended as he prepared to join the effort. After graduating from college in Woodstock, NB., he worked at NB Power (NBEPC) for 38 years, then retiring for 33 years returning to his home in Rusagonis. Bob enjoyed life, the outdoors, the land, wildlife and especially being with the love of his life Marie, his wife of 67 years and his family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM from Bishops funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton. A funeral service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday July 11, 2014 at 2 PM with Rev. Dr. Brad Little and Rev. David Gray officiating. A reception will be held at the funeral home immediately following the service. Interment will be held in the Rusagonis Baptist Church Cemetery.
