Our wonderful mom was born December 8, 1925 to Addison and Violet McKnight in Center Napan, NB. She passed away peacefully at the Oromocto Public Hospital July 6, 2014.

She was a member of Christ Church Parish Church, L.O.B.A. and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No.4 Ladies Auxiliary.

Jean is survived by three sons, Alvin and Brian Gilks of Penticton, BC and Garth (Janice) of Rusagonis; four daughters, Lucenda Knox (Greg) and Carolin Gilks (June) both of Fredericton, Valerie Washburn (Fred) of Penticton, BC and Wilma Bretzke of Calgary; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Cora Bainard of London, ON; two brothers, Lloyd McKnight of Napan and Hazen McKnight of Alberta.

Predeceased by her parents; husband Cyril Gilks; daughter Carol; son Wayne and grandson Christopher; four sisters, Edna Harding, Lylia Desjardine, Hallie Sandwith and Bertie MacLean; five brothers, Eldon, Norman, Arthur, Elmer and Bunt.

There will be no visitation by family request. The funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM from St. Anne’s Chapel of Ease, 245 Westmorland St., Fredericton. Rev. Canon Elaine Hamilton will officiate. Interment in the Ford Hollow Cemetery, Blissfield, NB at a later date. Donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 4 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a tribute service at St. Anne’s Chapel of Ease on Thursday at 10:30 AM followed by a L.O.B.A. Tribute Service.
