It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our brother Gary. Born in Fredericton, NB on March 9,1951 Gary was the son of the late Doug(Mitch) and Marie Mitchell.
As the son of a military dad, he lived in various places in Ontario and Quebec, finally graduating from High school in Petawawa, Ontario. From there he returned to Fredericton to attend Teachers college and graduated in 1971. While at UNB Gary worked at the Lord Beaverbrook Hotel part time as a Sous Chef which helped him pay his way through college. This sparked a keen interest in Gary for working in the food industry. His passion for this lead him to many jobs over the years, a list too long but a few of the more memorable ones were Keltic Lodge, Cape Breton, Executive Assistant Manager, Sheraton Armouries, London, Ontario, Director of Catering Prince George Hotel and owner/operator of Hazen Haven Productions Catering.
Gary left his career in 2008 to come home and care for his ailing parents and remained in Fredericton. Gary was known throughout the food and beverage industry as a strong leader, having great operational skills and being a super people person. Till the time of his death Gary was the first to help someone out and the last to expect anything in return.
Gary was predeceased by an older brother Charles Mitchell and is survived by his brother Dana Mitchell (Ann) and only sister, Sharon Mitchell-Fullarton (Darrell), nephews Shawn, Trevor, Derek ,Scott Mitchell and Michael Fullarton plus nieces Jennifer Fox (Floyd) and Amanda Fullarton. Also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at the United Church Cemetery in Marysville on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Gary has asked that and donations be made to the Fredericton Men’s Shelter. Online condolences can be made at www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
