It is with great sadness that the family of Vida I. Anderson of Hanwell, NB, announce her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on May 13, 2012. She was 88. Born in Eel River Lake, NB, she was the daughter of the late Eric and Ruby (McMinn) Smith and wife of the late Dawson Anderson.
Vida was a very active member of the Hanwell Community Church, having helped break the ground on the new facility. She retired in 1987 from UNB where she was employed as a receptionist.
She is survived by her two children Beverley Morgan (Neil) and Lloyd (Nadine); daughter-in-law Deanna Anderson all of Hanwell, NB; 4 grandchildren Paula McCall (Joseph) of Calgary, Leah Morgan (Duston Poirier) of Fredericton, Anita Niles (Larry) of Harvey, and Edison Anderson (Shelley) of Fredericton; 4 great grandchildren Bradley MacDonald, Madison McCall, Noah and Caleb Anderson; sisters Alma Smith of Miramichi and Dorothy Grindall (Ansel) of Waterville, ME; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son Gary, a brother Blair and his wife Freda.
Visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Mike McDonald officiating. Interment in the Fosterville Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanwell Community Church or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation. Pallbearers will be Reg Anderson, Daren Smith, Mark Smith, Brian Bronson, Blaine Bronson and Duston Poirier.
